As the 2009 season reaches its halfway point, Red Bull F1 is making a change to its nominated reserve driver for Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso. Toyota is considering abandoning its plans to host the 2010 Japanese Grand Prix, a spokesman for the Japanese carmaker has revealed. The admission comes after two waves of media reports insisted the event scheduled for Fuji Speedway next year is in doubt: most recently on Wednesday, but also dating back a month ago in the Asahi newspaper. F1: Red Bull makes F1 reserve driver change

Brendon Hartley has been stepped down from his role as reserve driver for Red Bull's two F1 teams. The energy drink-owned teams on Wednesday said the New Zealander will be replaced at the remaining races of this season by another teenager, Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari. Red Bull said it sees the role as "part of its young driver training programme". F1: Ferrari plays down Alonso ’speculation’

Ferrari has dismissed as "speculation" the latest reports that Monza could be the scene of an announcement about Fernando Alonso's 2010 seat. The Spanish newspaper Diario AS reported this week that September 11, the Friday of the Italian Grand Prix, may have been set aside to confirm the Spaniard alongside one of the Maranello team's existing drivers. F1: Bridgestone scraps 2009 ‘gap’ policy

Bridgestone has scrapped its policy of leaving a gap between the two types of tyre compounds supplied to Formula One teams in 2009. At the remaining rounds of the season following next Sunday's German Grand Prix, the sport's official tyre supplier will instead revert to supplying consecutive compounds.
